The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office Impound Lot holds vehicle’s for our office, City of Colby Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol.  If you are wanting to get a vehicle out that was impounded by the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, City of Colby Police Department or the Kansas Highway Patrol, please contact our office at (785) 460-4570, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (275 N. Court Ave., Colby, KS).  Impounded vehicles will not be released on holidays.

Fees for Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, Colby Police Department, and Kansas Highway Patrol impounded vehicles are calculated using the below formula:

+ $40 Impound Fee

+ $10 Daily Fee

Daily Fees are started the day and time the vehicle is impounded.  Each concurring day begins at the time the vehicle was impounded.  For example, if a vehicle is impounded at 8 a.m. on Monday, the vehicle will start off with a $10 daily fee (as well as impound and tow fees).  Tuesday at 8 a.m. will be considered the beginning of day two and there will now be a $20 fee (as well as impound and tow fees).
